Rocket Stoves: More Heat, Less Smoke, Less Wood!
W.E. Cob has an ethic of making our ovens to be as environmentally conscious as possible. Reducing waste while increasing efficiency is key in any design we come up with.
A rocket stove is the single most efficient way of burning wood for heat. It’s design allows it to create a rocket-like effect where air is sucked in the entrance, driving the fire which is then forced out the top, causing a funnel of concentrated flame that gets hot enough to burn even the gases that we observe as smoke! That’s right, it gets so hot that it burns the smoke away! This rocket stove will be under the oven, so as you feed the stove the flame shoots up and enters the bottom of the oven then radiates around the dome to heat it. This method reduces the amount of wood used in a traditional fire-heated oven by 50% - 80%, reduces the pre-heating time, increases safety, and allows for a larger cooking surface in the oven. |
