WE are W.E. Cob
Wiig has been learning, practicing, and living Permaculture and natrural building in Canada, Vietnam, Thailand, the Caribbean, and Kenya since 2011. His passion lies in the simplicity and beauty of using the gifts and logic that nature has provided in the most appropriate and functional ways for people and the Earth to live in harmony.
Since 2012, Wiig has gradually worked his way into teaching Permaculture and natural building. In 2012 he lived at Rak Tamachat Permaculture Education Center in Thailand where he was one of the pioneer members, and helped facilitate as well as lead courses on various sustainable topics. From 2013-2014 he worked with Green Youth Collective in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where the focus was urban gardening and natural building. Towards the end of 2014 he returned to his home of Saskatoon and worked with Ness Creek Forest Garden to build a Walipini (sunken greenhouse), as well as a couple of ovens and started the plans for rocket stove thermal-mass heaters. Now, his main focus is in Kenya where he is the Project Manager for Oltumo Maasai Project. His current goal is to spend 6 months in Kenya, a couple months wherever else he is called to, and then the summer and fall back in Saskatchewan to focus on W.E. Cob, as well as fundraising and spreading awareness for Oltumo Maasai Project. He is the wanderer. |
Ellis is an enthusiastic willow weaver, lover of Nature, and single mother of 3 wonderful daughters. She has written a book about her Youngest daughter, Adventures of Okeira, who was afflicted with a neurological disease at the age of 15 months. Before she met Steven, working with willow to create incredible chairs, cabinets, trellises, and anything her ambitious mind could come up with was her main focus. Her home is overflowing with her willow structures which she builds all spring while the willow is still soft enough to flex into any shape and structure she can imagine.
In 2014, she wrote to Steve while he was in Vietnam and pushed him to come back to Saskatoon to show her how to build with cob. Little did she know that this would connection would mature into a passionate duo that will hopefully work together (in the summer) for years to come! Her home is a jungle of creativity, from cob ovens to furniture built from re-purposed materials, to a yard full of garden beds, to her dozens of willow structures, it's impossible not to be impressed. Her passionate drive and artistic touch takes W.E. Cob from simple ovens to works of art. She is the solid base for W.E. Cob. |
